Novelty fabrics were prevalent through out the market. There were very feminine baby polka dots and floral prints on organza fabric in pastel colors, like pink and blue and your basic black and navy. In the bright colors, I found fabulous shimmering fabrics that actually change color as the light hits the dress. They were beautiful and very special. Of course there were plenty of satin and crepe dresses for those of you that prefer a simple yet sophisticated look. Many of the prom dresses that I saw had incredible trims. The feminine pastel dresses had exquisite ribbon detail with detachable flowers. There were the slight details of rhinestone buckle trims and beaded straps. Then there are the dresses that have beads and/or crystals sewn right on to the dress. Some have a touch of beading and others have beading all over the front and back. Some other very special details were lace up backs, bustle back dresses, illusion fabric insets and butterfly trims
Now, I am sure you are thinking "This all sounds great but is there a flattering silhouette for my curvy figure??" I am here to help you figure out which dress is perfect for your body. I bought an assortment of specific features in these dresses knowing how they flatter curves. One of the most flattering silhouettes is the Empire Waist. The empire waist gives you an elongated body. The attention is at the bustline and the seaming is right under the bust line. Not only is this dress flattering, it is very comfortable and allows for more room in your dress when you sit down.
If you have a tummy issue I have many alternatives. One of my own famous tricks is to wear mock two piece dresses. That way when you stand up you have a smooth look with two layers of fabric through the tummy area. Then when you sit down, the mock two piece of the top part falls gracefully over the tummy area for a flattering look. In addition, if you choose a silhouette with a little bit of draping detail; it also creates a smoother fit.
If your arms are a concern, we have many dresses that come with shawls and dresses like the 6645 (above) are great off the shoulder looks that cover the arm but are still sexy. And, we even have some selection with bolero jackets.
